Abstract
Three-dimensional rejuvenation of the lips and peri-oral area may be difficult to achieve without a clear concept of the various anatomic components that contribute to youthful function and appearance. The underlying supportive structures of this area may need dental rejuvenation. Once this is established, the upper lip skin can be managed with non-ablative or resurfacing lasers, chemical peels, filling agents, and Botox. The body and contours of the lips may need volume supplied by filling agents, but also pigment, which will require artful micropigmentation, and Botox applied to the orbicularis oris for lip eversion. The corners of the mouth can be raised with Botox applied to the depressor anguli oris muscles, and layered Restylane and Perlane to fill in the oral commissures (marionette lines).
