Narelle Yeo
Narelle Yeo (Associate Professor) is an opera and musical theatre singer and stage director with credits in the United States, Europe, and Australia. She is the inaugural Program Leader in Music Theatre at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and coordinator of stagecraft training for Classical/Opera singers at the Sydney Conservatorium. Narelle recently premiered the role of Queen Elizabeth in Tom Rimes’s world premiere opera Annus Horribilis in Hobart, Tasmania. Recent directing credits include dramaturgy and direction for world premiere performances of the new musical A Box of Memories by Erin McKellar in Sydney, Adelaide, and Pittsburgh. Favourite roles include Guenevere in Camelot, Sharon in Masterclass, Mrs Manningham in Gaslight, Cio Cio San in Madama Butterfly, and Nedda in I Pagliacci. She has two CDs in circulation: Grotesque and Other Chamber Works by Meta Overman with Wirripang Records; and Henry Handel Richardson: Let Spring Come and Other Songs with Toccata Classics in London. Narelle regularly publishes on classical and musical theatre vocalism, acting for singers, and mentoring in the arts. She is the convenor of the Australian Music Theatre Network and designs programmes for mentoring in Australia, including Amplification, Mentoring for Women in the Creative and Performing Arts, and Bayumi Birrung for talented First Nations musicians.
