Abstract
The Mayhew Theatre is an innovative teaching and presentation space newly built in the courtyard of the Grade 1 listed Foreign and Commonwealth Office building in London. Its complex design and the site’s restrictive logistics led contractor Gilbert-Ash to turn to state-of-the-art technology to ensure everything went to plan in its design and construction. This case study explains the construction challenges faced, and Gilbert-Ash’s use of Point Clouds for object-oriented modelling, software, and 3D laser imaging, which in turned has changed how the company approaches its projects.
