Providing Direction in Architectural Research:

An Example for Finding Architectural Plans

Pages 27-42 | Published online: 25 Oct 2008

Abstract

Finding architectural plans can be a challenge for any information provider. Reference works and indexing tools which can be helpful are varied. Successful searches often depend upon how well known a work is unless there are other resources such as vertical files or archives which may be used. This guide serves as an example of how one major art and architectural information resource, the New York Public Library, provides user assistance with this kind of architectural material.
