Journal overview

Philosophical Papers is an international, generalist journal of philosophy edited in South Africa

Original Articles

Articles appearing in regular issues are original, high-quality, and stand-alone, and are written for the general professional philosopher. Submissions are welcome in any area of philosophy and undergo a process of peer review based on initial editor screening and refereeing by (usually) two referees.

Special Issues

Topic-based special issues are comprised of both invited and submitted papers selected by guest editors. Ideas for future special issues are welcome.

Re-Readings and Book Reviews

Philosophical Papers occasionally publishes re-readings, in which authors write on an older article, book, or book chapter that they deem to deserve renewed attention. Unsolicited re-readings of 4000-7000 words in length are welcome. Authors interested in submitting more traditional reviews of recent books should approach the editors in the first instance.

Authors can choose to publish gold open access in this journal.

Read the Instructions for Authors for information on how to submit your article.
