Journal overview

Journal of Research in Childhood Education (JRCE) is a peer-reviewed journal publishing international empirical research and case studies for advancing education.

JRCE is a quarterly publication of Childhood Education International (CE International).

The journal features research from around the world to inform education leadership as they develop policy and practice regarding education, learning, and well-being of children, early years through early adolescence, and provide the foundation for education reform to improve quality, equity, and access. It aims to function as a catalyst for education management professionals seeking peer-reviewed childhood education research to support and guide culturally responsive teaching practices and programs.

The primary focus of the journal is on rethinking education, including areas such as:

  • innovative pedagogies
  • learning environments
  • learning assessments
  • instructional design
  • professional development
  • STEM education
  • technology for the classroom
  • social emotional development
  • global competencies
  • global citizenship education
  • education for sustainable development
  • educating children in crisis and conflict zones
  • gender parity.

The journal accepts original research articles, review articles, theoretical articles, ethnographic and case studies, participant observation studies, and studies deriving data collected from naturalistic settings. Cross-cultural studies and those addressing international concerns are welcome. Further, JRCE seeks to stimulate the exchange of research ideas by publication of small-scale studies carried out in a variety of settings (homes, centers, classrooms, hospitals, and other community environments).

The journal operates a double-anonymized peer review policy.
