Education Inquiry is a peer reviewed, open access journal that provides high quality research in the field of education.

It is published in cooperation with the Umeå School of Education, Umeå University.

The journal is a forum for debate on contemporary education research and policy, changes in teaching and learning across all sectors of education, the nature and processes of education and training, and research in and on teacher education. The readership consists of educators, researchers, and policy makers.

Education Inquiry welcomes disciplinary and cross-disciplinary contributions and innovative perspectives on topics such as:

  • Teaching, learning, and classroom studies
  • Subject didactics and pedagogy
  • Education policy or practice
  • Education across all levels
  • Education within specific national boundaries or in comparative perspective


The journal publishes original research articles and operates a double anonymized peer review policy.

All articles will be made freely and permanently available online through gold open access publication.
